Code Vein Scaling Guide: Understanding Blood Codes, Blood Veils, and Weapons

If you’re familiar with the Souls games or Bloodborne, you might have an idea of how scaling works in Code Vein. In this guide, we’ll focus on scaling with respect to Blood Codes, Blood Veils, and Weapons in the game.

Code Vein Scaling Guide

Blood Codes & Scaling

In Code Vein, your Blood Code is the centerpiece of your build. Each Blood Code has its unique features, but we’ll mainly focus on Scaling. You can compare the scaling of different Blood Codes by scrolling through them. Generally, Blood Codes found later in the game are more powerful with better scaling and stats.

Weapon Scaling & Blood Codes

Weapons have their individual scaling, which works alongside your Blood Code to determine your overall damage. Match your weapon’s scaling with the best scaling of your Blood Code for maximum benefit. Please note that scaling doesn’t improve as you upgrade weapons, but it does change when you transform them.

Blood Veil Scaling & Blood Codes

Similar to weapons, Blood Veils have their scaling, which works with Blood Codes to determine Drain Attack damage and the effectiveness of your Dark and Light Gifts. Blood Veil scaling doesn’t affect weapon damage, so choose any Blood Veil that fits your preference.

Dark, Light Gift Scaling

Dark and Light Gifts scale with their appropriate stats. Light Gifts scale with Mind, and Dark Gifts scale with Willpower. The amount of scaling varies between spells, so it’s best to test them out to see how they perform with your setup.

Defense & Scaling

Defense is impacted primarily by your weapon and Blood Veil. The defense values on your weapon apply when you block, while those on the Blood Veil apply when you are struck without blocking. Vitality and Fortitude have a minimal impact on defense, so don’t focus on these stats too much.
