Assassin's Creed: The Ezio Collection Tips - Best Order and Starter Priorities

Start Assassin's Creed: The Ezio Collection with the right play order, remaster caveats, and separate AC II, Brotherhood, and Revelations priorities.

On this page

Assassin’s Creed: The Ezio Collection is best approached as three related single-player games in one remastered package: Assassin’s Creed II, Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood, and Assassin’s Creed Revelations. The games share Ezio, parkour, stealth, assassinations, open-city exploration, and collectibles, but each one asks you to care about a different backbone system.

Content note: this collection is rated Mature and includes blood, intense violence, sexual content, and strong language. This guide stays focused on non-graphic play advice.

Current storefront availability, subscription access, cloud options, and backward-compatibility details can change. Before buying or reinstalling, check the store page for your platform and assume old PS3 or Xbox 360 save files will not carry into this remastered collection.

Best Play Order

Play the collection in release-story order: Assassin’s Creed II, then Brotherhood, then Revelations. That order keeps Ezio’s life, the modern-day frame, and the gameplay systems moving forward instead of backward.

Watch Assassin’s Creed Lineage before AC II if you want the family setup first. Save Assassin’s Creed Embers until after Revelations, because it functions as an epilogue to Ezio’s story. The films are bonus context, not required training, so do not let them delay the games if you mainly want to play.

Treat each game as its own chapter. AC II teaches the base rhythm: climb towers, reveal the map, blend, hire help, earn money through Monteriggioni, and improve Ezio over time. Brotherhood builds on that with Rome liberation, Borgia Towers, renovation loops, and recruit management. Revelations adds Constantinople, Eagle Sense tracking, bombs, Assassin Dens, and den-defense pressure tied to notoriety.

Collection Setup Tips

Start by checking your platform-specific controls, because The Ezio Collection is not always identical to older original-release guides. If you are using a remastered console version, confirm sprint, high profile, interact, Eagle Vision or Eagle Sense, ranged weapons, and map controls before following an old walkthrough.

On Nintendo Switch, expect the collection to lean into handheld play and Switch-specific interface features. On PlayStation and Xbox, expect a more traditional controller layout, but still check button prompts inside the remaster before building muscle memory from a decade-old guide.

Do not look for the old multiplayer modes. The collection is a single-player package, and completion planning should revolve around campaign, DLC, collectibles, side activities, and achievements or trophies that can be handled offline.

Assassin’s Creed II Priorities

AC II is the cleanest starting point because it gives you the most gradual version of Ezio’s toolkit. Early on, climb viewpoints whenever you enter a new city district. Viewpoints make the map easier to use, and the map is your main tool for routing story memories, shops, doctors, side activities, and collectibles.

Invest spare florins into Monteriggioni instead of hoarding them. The villa is not just a home base; it is an economy. Renovations, art, weapons, armor, and collections improve the value of the property, while renovated shops can also make later purchases easier. Keep Ezio’s armor and weapons suitable for the story before overspending on vanity purchases, but do not ignore the villa for half the game.

Use AC II to learn stealth fundamentals patiently. Breaking line of sight, blending with crowds, hiring thieves, courtesans, or mercenaries, using smoke bombs, and visiting doctors all matter more than simply winning every fight in the street. If a mission area feels crowded, scout exits, rooftops, benches, hay, water, and hired groups before charging the target.

Collectibles are safer when you pick a plan. Either collect feathers, glyphs, statuettes, and tomb objectives as you go, or deliberately leave some categories for a cleanup pass after the story. Mixing random collection with no tracking is how you end up searching every rooftop twice.

Brotherhood Priorities

Brotherhood’s main city rule is simple: take Rome back before trying to optimize Rome. Borgia Towers control districts. Removing them opens renovation, lowers hostile pressure in the area, and expands your ability to recruit assassins.

Make Borgia Towers a regular priority as soon as they become available. Scout the captain first, because some captains are more awkward than the tower climb itself. After the captain is handled, climb, synchronize where appropriate, and burn the tower. That loop turns hostile territory into useful territory.

Recruit assassins early and train them steadily. Recruits are not just a side menu; they can help during missions and can be sent out for income and experience. Send them on missions with strong success chances rather than gambling away a recruit you just trained. Once your roster grows, the Brotherhood becomes one of the strongest tools Ezio has.

Buy practical tools before luxury spending. The crossbow is a strong early money goal because silent ranged options make many Rome problems easier. Renovations still matter, but Brotherhood rewards tools that let you quietly remove guards, protect constraints, and control rooftops.

Revelations Priorities

Revelations changes the feel of the trilogy by adding systems you should learn separately instead of treating it like Brotherhood in a new city. Eagle Sense is more than a vision toggle: use it when tracking, identifying, or confirming targets. If lock-on or target selection feels unreliable, slow down and use the scanning tools the game gives you.

Learn bomb crafting as a utility system, not a toy box you must overuse. Bombs can kill, distract, lure, separate, or create tactical openings depending on their components. In normal play, focus on understanding the category first: lethal for damage, tactical for control, and diversion for moving attention. Save exact recipes and challenge routing for a dedicated cleanup pass.

Keep notoriety under control when you are expanding through Constantinople. Shops and hostile actions can push pressure upward, and high notoriety can lead to den attacks. If you are buying heavily, pause to manage notoriety or be ready to defend the den afterward.

Train assassins with a long view. Assigning and developing den leaders can eventually lock dens against attacks, which turns a recurring defensive chore into stable territory. Revelations rewards players who use the recruit system as infrastructure, not just as a panic button.

Completion Planning

If you only want the story, move through the three campaigns in order and sample side systems enough to stay funded and equipped. If you want full completion, split the project by game and category. AC II cleanup is different from Brotherhood flags, Brotherhood DLC, Revelations Animus fragments, memoir pages, and The Lost Archive.

Do not assume every old guide applies cleanly to this package. The remaster removes multiplayer content, includes single-player DLC, changes some platform expectations, and packages achievements or trophies around the collection version. Use collection-specific menus and trackers whenever possible.

For collectibles, avoid half-collecting every category at once. Pick one city, district, or category, finish that sweep, and then move on. For mission constraints, replay only after you understand the mission layout; first attempts are better spent learning entrances, exits, guard paths, and target behavior.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

  1. Do not start with Brotherhood or Revelations - Play AC II first so the story and mechanics build naturally.

  2. Do not watch Embers before finishing Revelations - Save the epilogue until Ezio’s final game is complete.

  3. Do not ignore viewpoints - Reveal districts early so routing, shops, doctors, and cleanup are easier.

  4. Do not hoard all your money in AC II - Put spare florins into Monteriggioni while keeping Ezio properly equipped.

  5. Do not leave Borgia Towers standing in Brotherhood - Clear towers to open renovation, reduce pressure, and expand recruitment.

  6. Do not send weak recruits on risky missions - Build success chances before dispatching assassins.

  7. Do not treat Revelations bombs as mandatory spam - Use bombs when distraction, control, or damage solves a real problem.

  8. Do not let notoriety sit high in Revelations - Lower it or prepare for den-defense consequences.

  9. Do not follow original-release controls blindly - Check the remaster controls on your platform before practicing advanced movement.

  10. Do not mix every collectible category at once - Finish one category or district sweep before starting another.
