ENDER LILIES: Quietus of the Knights is a dark fantasy 2D action RPG by Live Wire and Adglobe, published by Binary Haze Interactive. It looks familiar if you know Metroidvanias, but its core rhythm is specific: Lily survives through movement and positioning while purified Spirits handle the fighting.
Content note: ESRB rates ENDER LILIES T for Teen with Blood and Violence. This guide keeps dark fantasy and undead/blight themes non-graphic and focused on player actions.
This is a first-playthrough fundamentals guide for ENDER LILIES. It is not an ENDER MAGNOLIA guide, boss strategy guide, ending route, relic-location guide, full map-completion route, or optimized Spirit/Relic build guide.
Difficulty note: Bosses and fights can be formidable, and a moment of inattention can be fatal. The tips below are beginner-friendly, but the game still expects patience, retesting rooms, and careful resource use.
Essential Tips
1. Let Spirits Fight While Lily Stays Safe
Lily’s job is positioning, not trading hits.
Your attacks come from Spirits, so do not stand inside danger as if Lily were a normal swordfighter. Move first, summon at the right range, and treat every Spirit as a tool Lily directs from a safer spot.
2. Use Both Spirit Sets
Six equipped Spirits matter only if you actually rotate them.
You can carry two active sets with three Spirits each. Keep one set comfortable for general rooms, then reserve the other for range, burst damage, counter timing, or awkward enemy angles. Swapping sets is part of the combat system, not an advanced trick.
3. Track Spirit Uses Before Long Rooms
Finite-use Spirits can run dry before a Respite.
Some Spirits have limited uses and need red flowers or Respites to refill. If your strongest room-clearer is almost empty, do not spend it on a harmless enemy right before a dangerous stretch.
4. Rest at Respites With Intent
Respites restore you, but they also reset the area.
Resting saves, restores HP and item uses, and opens the menu for Spirits, Relics, and enhancements. It also respawns non-boss enemies, so rest when you need the reset rather than tapping every checkpoint without thinking.
5. Use Fast Travel From the Respite Menu
Travel is tied to discovered Respites.
Once fast travel is available, use it to bundle cleanup: change loadouts, upgrade Spirits, check Relics, revisit blockers, and return to safer areas. Do not treat every backtrack as a full walk unless the route itself is the goal.
6. Read the Map’s Room Colors
Blue rooms still hide something; orange rooms are cleared.
ENDER LILIES gives you a simple cleanup signal. If a room stays blue, leave a mental note and come back after new Actions, Relics, or better movement. If it turns orange, move on without second-guessing every wall.
7. Stop Forcing Ability Gates
A missing Action is often the real answer.
New purified Spirits can open traversal options such as double jumps, dashes, climbing, hook-swinging, underwater movement, or other route tools. If a gap, wall, sealed door, or hazard has no clean solution, mark it for later.
8. Change Relics for the Current Problem
Relics are loadout tools, not collectibles to forget.
Some Relics help survival, some help damage, and some change exploration comfort. If a room keeps killing you in the same way, check your Relics before repeating the same attempt unchanged.
9. Expand Relic Capacity When You Can
More slots mean more answers.
Relic capacity upgrades make your build less cramped. Even without chasing exact relic locations or optimized setups, extra room lets you combine practical survival and damage options more easily.
10. Enhance Spirits You Actually Use
Upgrade materials should reinforce your real habits.
Spirit enhancements can improve damage, range, projectile count, cooldown, action speed, or combo behavior. Start with Spirits you already trust, then branch out when a room asks for a different range or timing.
11. Save Prayer for Real Danger
Healing is limited between rests.
Prayer restores HP, but you cannot spend it endlessly before resting. Heal when it prevents a death or gets you through a route, not just because you took a small hit near a Respite.
12. Keep ENDER MAGNOLIA Separate
The sequel has different characters and systems.
ENDER MAGNOLIA takes place later and uses Lilac, Homunculi companions, new difficulty options, and a different battle system. Do not bring sequel advice back into ENDER LILIES unless a guide explicitly says it covers this game.
Combat and Loadout Habits
| Situation | Safer Habit | Why It Helps |
|---|---|---|
| New enemy | Watch one full attack pattern before spending rare Spirit uses | You learn the safe summon range first |
| Flying or distant enemy | Try a ranged or wide-angle Spirit | Lily should not chase every target into danger |
| Slow or sturdy enemy | Test wider or heavier Spirits | Some attacks control space better than quick slashes |
| Spirit uses running low | Refill at a red flower or Respite before pushing deeper | Empty Spirits turn a good loadout into dead weight |
| Repeated deaths | Change Relics and Spirit set before retrying | A different range or defensive setup may solve the room |
| Low HP | Use Prayer only when it changes the outcome | Limited healing should buy progress, not comfort |
| Hard route ahead | Rest, upgrade, and check both sets first | Preparation is cheaper than a long runback |
Exploration and Cleanup
-
Check the room color after searching: A blue room still has an item or secret; an orange room is done.
-
Mark blockers by memory or notes: Track sealed doors, climb walls, water, miasma, suspicious gaps, and high ledges.
-
Return after every major Action: A new movement or utility power can make several old dead ends useful.
-
Use Respites as cleanup hubs: Fast travel, swap Spirits, adjust Relics, enhance skills, then run a focused cleanup pass.
-
Leave lethal hazards alone until protected: Deep water and toxic spaces are often asking for a later answer.
-
Do not chase full map completion blind: Exact room cleanup, relic routes, Findings, and endings belong in a route guide.
-
Separate exploration from boss attempts: If you are learning a fight, set up the route and loadout first instead of arriving tired and underprepared.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
-
Do not stand still while summoning Spirits - Lily still needs to dodge, jump, and reposition.
-
Do not use one Spirit set for every room - Range, cooldowns, angles, and enemy movement change constantly.
-
Do not spend finite-use Spirits on trivial enemies - Save limited charges for rooms that actually threaten progress.
-
Do not rest without checking the cost - Respites restore you, but non-boss enemies return.
-
Do not ignore blue rooms forever - The map is telling you where cleanup remains.
-
Do not force a blocker with bad jumps - Come back when a new Action gives you a clean route.
-
Do not leave Relics unchanged after repeated deaths - Adjust survival or damage tools for the room in front of you.
-
Do not spend upgrade materials only because they are available - Enhance Spirits you use often or need for a specific role.
-
Do not waste Prayer on tiny mistakes near safety - Limited healing should carry you through danger.
-
Do not enter hazards without a plan - Some areas expect specific Actions or Relics.
