LEGO Jurassic World by TT Games and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment is a LEGO action-adventure built around the first four Jurassic films, hub exploration on Isla Nublar and Isla Sorna, character abilities, playable dinosaurs, studs, and Free Play cleanup.
This guide covers the LEGO videogame, not the Jurassic World films themselves, Jurassic World Evolution, Jurassic World: The Game, or another LEGO series. It is a beginner-safe strategy guide, not a minikit location map, amber brick route, character unlock list, level walkthrough, cheat-code list, DLC guide, or buying guide.
Content note: ESRB rates LEGO Jurassic World E10+ with Cartoon Violence and Crude Humor.
Overview
| Category | Beginner Rule |
|---|---|
| Main loop | Play story levels, return to hubs, then replay in Free Play |
| Hubs | Use blue stud trails to find the next story objective |
| Cleanup mode | Save serious collectible hunting for Free Play |
| Main currency | Studs |
| Level stud target | True Survivor |
| Ability gates | Switch characters or dinosaurs when one cannot interact |
| Dinosaurs | Use them as puzzle tools, not only as novelty characters |
| Co-op | Check your platform’s local/shared-screen behavior before planning a two-player route |
| Scope | Keep advice specific to LEGO Jurassic World, not other Jurassic or LEGO games |
The clean first route is simple: follow the story, break obvious LEGO objects for studs, learn the ability language, and avoid obsessing over every blocked collectible until Free Play gives you a broader roster.
Best Early Route
1. Follow Story Mode First
The first pass is meant to teach the level, not clear everything.
Story Mode gives you a limited cast. When you see a minikit, amber object, red/gold brick prompt, small access point, special plant interaction, dig spot, electrical panel, or dinosaur-only obstacle that your current team cannot solve, mark the idea and keep moving.
Restarting a level because one collectible is blocked usually wastes more time than finishing the level and returning in Free Play.
2. Use Blue Stud Trails in the Hubs
If the island feels too open, follow the breadcrumb route.
The hubs are built for exploration, but the blue stud trail is your story compass. Follow it when you want the next level, then wander once you have a clear sense of where the hub entrances, map, vehicles, and replay points are.
3. Return to Free Play With a Purpose
Free Play is where ability coverage matters.
After a level is complete, replay it in Free Play with unlocked characters and dinosaurs. Go back for collectibles because you now have better access to the ability gates that blocked you the first time.
Use a short checklist before each replay:
| Check | Why It Matters |
|---|---|
| Do I need human abilities? | Many puzzles use tools, plants, climbing, cutting, digging, electricity, or stealth. |
| Do I need dinosaur abilities? | Some obstacles expect a dinosaur’s size, strength, charge, roar, or special interaction. |
| Did I miss a hub task? | Hub cleanup can unlock or expose more things to do. |
| Am I chasing one item only? | Replay chunks and save/exit behavior can shorten cleanup. |
4. Learn Visual Puzzle Language
LEGO puzzles usually show what kind of ability they want.
Look at the obstacle before cycling every character. Cracked LEGO objects, ropes, vines, dig piles, plant spots, small hatches, electrical panels, climb walls, scent/tracking clues, dinosaur pads, and special build pieces are all signals.
The fastest player is not the one who memorizes every unlock first; it is the one who recognizes the gate and switches to the right type of character.
5. Treat Dinosaurs Like Tools
Big characters solve different problems from humans.
Playable dinosaurs are a core part of LEGO Jurassic World. Use them for hub exploration, Free Play cleanup, and ability gates instead of saving them for screenshots or open-area smashing.
If a human team cannot move, break, charge, stomp, scare, or reach something, ask whether the puzzle is actually asking for a dinosaur.
Character and Dinosaur Abilities
Think in ability categories, not favorite characters.
| Ability Type | What To Look For |
|---|---|
| Agility / climbing | Poles, walls, ledges, fences, and vertical routes |
| Botanist / plant use | Seeds, plant patches, watering spots, and growth puzzles |
| Camouflage / stealth | Dinosaur sightlines or sneaking sections |
| Cutting | Ropes, vines, or marked barriers |
| Digging / tracking | Dirt piles, scent trails, buried pieces, and excavation prompts |
| Electricity | Blue generators, panels, and powered devices |
| Small access | Vents, tiny openings, or low crawl spaces |
| Heavy dinosaur force | Cracked objects, special pads, large targets, and heavy LEGO obstacles |
| Custom dinosaur use | Paddocks and Free Play tasks that benefit from a broader dinosaur set |
If a prompt does not work, do not assume the puzzle is broken. Switch once, scan the icon or object color, and try the matching category.
Studs and True Survivor
Studs are the main currency and the level-score route. The usual values are silver 10, gold 100, blue 1,000, and purple 10,000.
Use this priority:
- Break obvious LEGO scenery - It feeds studs, build piles, and puzzle clues.
- Protect high-value studs - Blue and purple studs are worth detouring for when safe.
- Do not die for loose studs - Lost momentum can cost more than a small pickup.
- Fill True Survivor naturally - First-pass levels often provide enough studs if you are thorough.
- Save heavy stud grinding for later - Cleanup and Extras are easier once Free Play opens up.
Once you are replaying levels, combine stud collection with Free Play cleanup. A replay that solves ability gates, checks missed paths, and fills the stud meter is better than a replay done only for loose currency.
Free Play Cleanup
Free Play is the right place for serious completion work, but do it in passes.
| Pass | Goal |
|---|---|
| Story pass | Finish levels, learn routes, and collect obvious studs. |
| Ability pass | Return with better human and dinosaur coverage. |
| Hub pass | Sweep Isla Nublar and Isla Sorna tasks that opened after story progress. |
| Detector pass | Use collectible help carefully if your version has it unlocked. |
| Final pass | Clean remaining minikits, amber, bricks, races, workers, and photos with screenshots or a checklist. |
Detectors can be helpful, but do not follow an arrow blindly. Detectors may point to where an item appears, while the actual required action can be somewhere else in the area.
This guide intentionally avoids exact minikit locations, amber brick locations, character unlocks, cheat codes, and level walkthrough steps. Save those for a dedicated route.
Hub and Co-Op Tips
Use the Map and Pause Menu
Learn your version’s map, pause, character toggle, and return-to-hub behavior early. The Feral manual documents a Return to the Island option in the pause menu, but exact labels and behavior should be checked on your platform.
Sweep Hubs in Layers
Do not try to solve every island marker the moment it appears.
| Hub Layer | Best Use |
|---|---|
| Story navigation | Follow blue studs to the next level. |
| Obvious pickups | Grab studs and easy tasks while passing through. |
| Ability cleanup | Return after more characters and dinosaurs are available. |
| Completion cleanup | Use a checklist only after story and Free Play access are mature. |
Keep Co-Op Focused
If your platform supports local/shared-screen play, use co-op to split jobs: one player keeps enemies, studs, and obvious builds moving while the other searches for ability gates and alternate paths.
Regroup for small interactables. LEGO puzzles are generous, but two players running in opposite directions can make tiny prompts and camera framing harder than the puzzle itself.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
-
Do not restart Story Mode for every blocked collectible - many optional items are meant for Free Play.
-
Do not ignore blue stud trails in hubs - they are the fastest way back to story progress.
-
Do not use one favorite character for every puzzle - switch by ability category.
-
Do not treat dinosaurs as only combat toys - dinosaur abilities are part of exploration and cleanup.
-
Do not trust detector arrows without inspecting the room - the visible item spot may not be the action spot.
-
Do not chase cheat codes on a first route - Unlocks and Extras make more sense after you understand Free Play.
-
Do not assume every platform behaves the same - controls, co-op, compatibility, and storefront details need platform checks.
-
Do not mix advice from other LEGO games - LEGO Jurassic World has its own hubs, dinosaur systems, amber/DNA loop, and film structure.
