Resident Evil 7: Biohazard - End of Zoe Tips

Resident Evil 7 End of Zoe tips for fists, AMG gauntlet combat, effigies, Molded tactics, swamp exploration, and boss fights.

content warning: End of Zoe is mature survival horror with violence, mutated enemies, and body-horror imagery. This guide keeps advice non-graphic and focused on play.

End of Zoe is not regular Resident Evil 7 with fewer bullets. Joe Baker fights through swamp routes with fists, crafted tools, pickups, and eventually the AMG gauntlet. The safest first clear comes from learning when to box, when to block, when to stomp, and when the route matters more than winning every brawl.

Essential Tips

1. Aim Joe’s Combos High

Joe’s fists are strongest when you fight like the enemy head is the real target. Keep your view high, step in with short punch strings, and try to knock regular Molded down cleanly. Once a Molded drops, move close enough that the stomp lands on the head rather than a limb. A careless stomp can waste the best finish window.

2. Let Blocking Carry Bad Moments

Punches can stop some Molded swings on easier play, but do not build your whole run around interrupting everything. If the enemy is already mid-swing, if two Molded are closing from different sides, or if you are unsure how a harder mode changes stagger behavior, block first. A blocked hit keeps the fight stable; a greedy punch can put Joe in a corner.

3. Keep Groups in Front of You

End of Zoe becomes dangerous when Molded split around Joe. Backpedal toward open ground, use doorways and bridges to narrow approach angles, and avoid drifting into dead ends while throwing punches. If one enemy drops, stomp only when the others are not about to hit you from behind.

4. Treat Boxer Effigies as Damage Routing

Boxer Effigies boost Joe’s attack while they stay in inventory, and Champion Effigies are the stronger version. Do not leave obvious dolls behind on barrels, sacks, shelves, poles, bridge walls, or save-shack routes. You do not need to turn the first run into a perfect collectible sweep, but each easy pickup makes later brawls shorter.

5. Search Before Leaving Safe Edges

The swamp hides useful items in small side checks: rocks, trees, docks, shacks, boat decks, shelves, and bridge sides. Make those checks when the area is calm. Do not do them while a fast Molded is already lunging, and do not spend healing just to grab a minor pickup you can route more cleanly on a replay.

6. Craft Stake Bombs for Problem Enemies

Tree Branches and Chem Fluid can become Stake Bombs, and those are best saved for enemies that make fist fighting inefficient. A Claw Molded or a crowded heavy encounter is a better use than a lone regular Molded you can safely punch, knock down, and stomp.

7. Run When the Route Says Run

Not every swamp moment is a duel. When Joe has only Zoe’s cure and needs the AMG, keep moving. If the gate cannot be handled with bare fists, take the alternate path, grab the First Aid Med if it is on the way, and push toward the gauntlet. The win condition is reaching the tool that changes the fight.

8. Charge the AMG Before Contact

Once Joe gets the AMG, pre-charge it before opening doors or stepping into tight rooms. A charged hit can solve the first Molded before the fight turns messy. In Old House rooms, charge, open, release into the closest threat, then reset spacing before charging again.

9. Use Spears and Shotgun Shells Late

Throwing Spears and shotgun shots matter most when a boss or heavy enemy gives you a short damage window. Do not spend every strong option on routine enemies. Against late Swamp Man pressure, mix charged AMG hits with spears or shotgun headshots when you have them, then return to blocking and charged punches.

10. Heal Before Joe Is Limping

Waiting too long to heal is a bad trade in close combat. End of Zoe asks you to stand near enemies, so low health makes every approach risky. If a boss phase or heavy Molded leaves you one mistake from death, heal before re-entering punch range.

Combat Flow

Start every normal fight by deciding whether you can safely box the target. Against one regular Molded, step in, aim high, punch until it drops, then finish with a head stomp. Against two or more, move first. Back into an angle where both stay visible, then commit to a short combo only when one enemy is clearly in front.

Four-legged Molded punish slow reactions, especially near the real AMG pickup. Keep the gauntlet charged when you expect them, and be ready to release before the pounce controls the fight. If you miss the first chance, block or dodge into space instead of trying to charge while cornered.

Claw Molded are poor targets for stubborn bare-knuckle trades. If one is blocking progress and you have a Stake Bomb, use it. If you have to punch, take brief openings and reset often. The goal is to survive the route, not prove every enemy can be beaten with the slowest method.

Swamp Exploration

End of Zoe’s exploration is compact but dense. Whenever you enter a save shack, boat room, dock corner, or bridge approach, scan for effigies and ingredients before advancing. Effigies are especially easy to miss when they are taped to a wall, sitting near a save point, or tucked near the edge of a bridge.

Food and healing ingredients are part of the same discipline. Check rocks and trees when safe, combine resources before your inventory clutters, and keep enough room for weapons or key pickups. If a fight is optional and your inventory is already healthy, leaving is sometimes better than turning supplies into damage recovery.

The Paddle Boat and Abandoned Church stretch reward this habit. Look behind the Steering House, around save points, beside lamps and poles, and along exit paths. The Old House bridge also deserves a final scan because a late Boxer Effigy can sit along the route just before the last push.

Boss and Heavy Enemy Advice

For the cemetery Fat Molded, clear the normal Molded first with spears or a Stake Bomb so the big target cannot trap you with helpers. Use the central tomb as a movement anchor, stay mobile, attack from behind when you can, and duck away when it turns to vomit. When it finally drops, back off before the death burst catches you.

For Swamp Man encounters, do not tunnel on damage. Charged AMG hits are strong, but blocking is what keeps you alive long enough to land them. Throw Spears when you have a clean line, use shotgun headshots during kneel or recovery windows, and heal before the next hit would end the run.

For the final Jack fight, keep your plan simple: concentrate gauntlet pressure on the head, block before greed, and charge only when the spacing lets you release safely. If you get knocked out of rhythm, reset with defense rather than trying to win the whole phase in one exchange.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

  1. Do not stomp from the wrong angle - Move close to the head before committing.

  2. Do not rely on punch interrupts forever - Blocking matters more as pressure rises.

  3. Do not let Molded surround Joe - Reposition until threats are in front.

  4. Do not leave easy effigies behind - Attack boosts make later fights shorter.

  5. Do not spend Stake Bombs on harmless targets - Save them for Claw Molded, groups, and heavy trouble.

  6. Do not fight during the AMG retrieval sprint - Reach the gauntlet first.

  7. Do not open doors with an empty gauntlet charge - Pre-charge before tight-room entries.

  8. Do not waste spears and shells early - Boss windows need burst damage.

  9. Do not explore while being chased - Clear space, then search.

  10. Do not delay healing in melee range - Low health makes every punch unsafe.
