Superfighters is the original MythoLogic Interactive Flash arena fighter on Newgrounds, listed in the task as Super Fighters but titled Superfighters by the original sources. It is separate from Superfighters Deluxe, the later Steam sequel, so this guide avoids Deluxe-only online, Workshop, map-editor, and campaign claims.
Content warning: Superfighters uses pixel-art combat with blood and violence themes. This guide keeps descriptions non-graphic and focused on play.
This is a beginner tips guide for VS Mode, Stage Mode, Survival Mode, and local two-player fundamentals. It is not a full Stage Mode route, map guide, weapon tier list, score route, or current-emulation troubleshooting guide.
Essential Tips
1. Read the Spawn Before You Move
Superfighters is chaotic by design.
Player positions, weapon positions, arena objects, and some combat outcomes are randomized, so do not memorize a single opener. At the start of each round, find your fighter, spot the nearest weapon or safe cover, then choose the route that costs the least health.
2. Race for a Weapon, But Do Not Tunnel on It
Everyone else wants the same advantage.
Weapons matter, but the nearest weapon can also become a trap if an opponent reaches it first. Check where enemies are moving, then decide whether to grab, punch them away, roll past, or take cover and let them expose themselves.
3. Use Cover as a Fighting Tool
Boxes and solid objects are not just obstacles.
Cover buys time for health and sprint recovery, breaks bad firing lines, and lets you force opponents to come closer. Ducking behind cover is often better than sprinting across open space after taking damage.
4. Spend Stamina Deliberately
Sprinting, dashing, diving, and rolling help only if you can still act afterward.
Use quick movement to reach a weapon, dodge danger, or change sides of the arena. If you burn the whole sprint bar every time you panic, you will have fewer options when the next opponent or explosive hazard appears.
5. Learn the Hold-and-Release Weapon Rhythm
Firearms and grenades need aim time.
Default controls use a held firearm or grenade button, directional aiming, then release to fire or throw. Practice that rhythm before relying on wild shots, because a rushed grenade or missed firearm shot can give the opponent the opening you were trying to prevent.
6. Save Bullet Time for Swing Moments
Do not spend it just because it is available.
Bullet time is most valuable when it lets you win a weapon race, line up a shot, escape a crowded corner, or survive the last exchange in a round. If the fight is calm, hold it for the moment that would otherwise be too fast to control.
7. Treat TNT Like a Third Opponent
Explosive props can decide a fight for or against you.
Stay out of blast range when a TNT box is nearby, and be careful about standing between an opponent and an explosive object. If you can trigger a hazard from safety, use it; if not, move before the arena does the work for someone else.
8. Separate Stage Mode From VS Habits
Stage Mode rewards survival across fights, not just flashy wins.
In VS Mode, a reckless trade can still be funny or fast. In Stage Mode, preserve health, use cover, and avoid unnecessary explosive risks because the goal is to keep advancing rather than win one messy duel.
9. Practice Survival as Endurance
Endless enemies punish sloppy recoveries.
Survival Mode is about staying alive and scoring for as long as possible. After each enemy goes down, reset your position, check your stamina, find the next weapon, and avoid getting trapped while new enemies enter the fight.
10. Keep Local Two-Player Inputs Clean
Both players share one keyboard layout.
When playing locally, make sure each player knows their side of the keyboard before the round starts. Crowded hands lead to missed rolls, late weapon swaps, and accidental bullet-time use.
Mode Priorities
| Mode | Beginner Priority | Why It Matters |
|---|---|---|
| VS Mode | Learn spawn reading and weapon races | Rounds are short enough to test decisions quickly |
| Stage Mode | Preserve health and advance cleanly | Mistakes can slow progression through later fights |
| Survival Mode | Reset position after every takedown | Endless pressure punishes standing still |
| Local two-player | Confirm controls before starting | Shared-keyboard confusion costs rounds |
Arena Habits
| Situation | Safer Habit |
|---|---|
| Opponent reaches a weapon first | Take cover or close with melee instead of running straight at the muzzle |
| You spawn near TNT | Move before fighting around it |
| Your stamina is low | Hold cover and recover instead of forcing another dash |
| You lose sight of your fighter | Stop chasing and relocate yourself before attacking |
| A weapon drops nearby | Check enemy position before swapping |
| Stage Mode gets messy | Choose survival over style and advance once the opening appears |
| Survival enemies keep spawning | Clear space, reload your plan, and avoid corners without an escape path |
Common Mistakes to Avoid
-
Do not sprint blindly at the first weapon - The weapon is useful only if you survive the approach.
-
Do not fight beside TNT without a reason - Explosive props can turn a winning position into a loss.
-
Do not ignore cover after taking damage - Health and sprint recovery are easier to use when you break line of sight.
-
Do not spam movement until stamina is empty - Save enough movement to escape the next bad exchange.
-
Do not throw grenades without aiming space - A rushed throw can punish you more than the opponent.
-
Do not treat Stage Mode like a one-round brawl - Cleaner wins matter more than flashy trades.
-
Do not start Survival by camping passively - You still need weapons, space, and safe recovery routes as enemies continue spawning.
-
Do not import Deluxe habits automatically - Online modes, Steam Workshop, user maps, and Deluxe campaign features belong to Superfighters Deluxe unless the original build is separately verified.
