Nioh 2 Build Guide: Paralyzing Blade (Odachi)

In this Nioh 2 Build Guide, we’ll explore how to utilize an Odachi Build that leverages Paralysis to incapacitate enemies, dealing massive damage when they’re immobile. We’ll discuss where to allocate your stat and skill points for maximum impact, the best equipment to choose, and the most suitable Guardian Spirit and Soul Cores. This starter build is meant for players just beginning Nioh 2 or those early in the game struggling with progression. This Build will be updated as higher levels and more equipment options become available.

Nioh 2 Build: Paralyzing Blade (Odachi)

The Paralyzing Blade Build combines the Bloodspider Blade and Paralysis Ninjutsu to obliterate enemies by disabling them and inflicting massive damage. The Bloodspider Blade deals almost 30% additional damage to paralyzed enemies. However, this only applies to one hit, so it’s crucial to make the most of that opportunity.

The strategy for this build involves using your Rifle to eliminate weaker enemies and your Cannon to deal massive damage against stronger opponents. Then, you’ll paralyze your target with Ninjutsu and follow up with a high-damage hit to defeat them. If it’s a human enemy, you can grapple them when paralyzed, dealing massive damage and opening up an opportunity for further attacks as they try to recover. Additionally, Odachis deal increased damage to humans, making this build especially effective against challenging human enemies like Revenants or Bosses.

Paralyzing Blade Stat Distribution

The Paralyzing Blade Build relies on a combination of primarily Strength, Constitution, and Heart. Stamina is also useful as it boosts Odachi damage, but isn’t necessary unless you’re using heavy armor. Strength is the best stat for Odachi scaling, and it also increases Hand Cannon damage. Constitution improves health and meets the requirements for medium armor, which we recommend for this build. Heart further enhances Odachi damage, increases Ki and Bow damage. A few points in Dexterity are helpful to increase your Ninjutsu Capacity, allowing you to carry more.

Paralyzing Blade Weapons, Armor, & Accessories

With numerous points allocated to Strength and Heart, Odachi is a natural choice for this build. Furthermore, using one specific Odachi means you can’t use any other weapon type.

As mentioned before, this build revolves around paralyzing enemies and hitting them for massive damage. The Bloodspider Blade provides nearly a 30% damage boost against paralyzed enemies. This weapon can be crafted, so once you have the Smithing Text, you can continue to create higher-level versions as you progress, preventing damage drop-off. Keep in mind where the text drops, as it isn’t far into the game, and you should have it by the time you complete the first region.

For ranged weapons, use a Bow and Rifle initially until you find a Hand Cannon. Hand Cannons scale with Strength, making them ideal for this build. Look for cannons with damage bonuses, allowing them to hit harder. Additionally, if you run out of ammunition, don’t hesitate to swap your Hand Cannon or Rifle for a Bow mid-mission and change it back later.

Paralyzing Blade Armor

When it comes to armor, there isn’t a specific set that specializes in paralyzing or benefits an Odachi early on, so focus on general sets that are medium armor or above. We recommend the Yokai Annihilator Set early in the game as it increases damage against Yokai and allows backstabbing opponents nearly every time you encounter them. Later on, consider using the Saruyasha’s Valor set for increased Anima gain, a damage bonus based on held Amrita, and reduced Ki consumption when dodging.

Paralyzing Blade Accessories

Accessory-wise, look for bonuses that increase Paralysis Accumulation, as this is essential for the build. You need to build up Paralysis rapidly to make the most out of this build, so aim to have this bonus in both accessory slots if possible.

Paralyzing Blade Skills and Guardian Spirits

Skill points placement is crucial for any Nioh 2 build. In this section, we’ll discuss the skills you need to create the Paralyzing Blade build, focusing on Samurai, Odachi, Ninja, and Shifting Skills.

I suggest starting with the Ame-no-Mitori Guardian Spirit which increases your Running Speed and Ki Recovery Speed, making it excellent for this build. Later in the game, if you prefer a Brute Guardian, consider Okuri-Inu for increased damage against unscathed enemies and extra Anima.

Don’t forget to update your Soul Cores. The Nure-Onna Soul Core is a great first choice as it lets you paralyze enemies in one use, which is crucial for this build. Combine the Nure-Onna Soul Core with others that have passive bonuses to increase Anima gain, allowing you to spam the Nure-Onna ability frequently.

Lastly, learn to fight within your Medusa Powder, enabling you to paralyze enemies twice if you’re quick. Play around with this Jutsu to maximize its effectiveness and be sure to craft higher and higher levels of the Bloodspider Blade to maintain your damage output.
