Marvel's Spider-Man: Turf Wars Beginner Tips

Beginner tips for Marvel's Spider-Man: Turf Wars, covering Hammerhead Fronts, Screwball challenges, stronger enemies, Spider-Bot pacing, and boss prep.

On this page

Marvel’s Spider-Man: Turf Wars is the second story chapter in The City That Never Sleeps DLC. It is about Hammerhead, the Maggia turf war, Yuri Watanabe, and gangs using stolen Sable International gear. Treat it as a focused DLC chapter, not as a fresh run through the full Marvel’s Spider-Man campaign.

Content note: Turf Wars is Teen-rated and includes superhero combat, blood, drug references, language, and violence. This guide keeps the advice practical and non-graphic.

This is a beginner tips guide for clearing Turf Wars with fewer retries. It is not a full mission route, trophy checklist, or perfect-score challenge plan. Even so, the DLC can feel sharper than the early base game because Hammerhead Fronts and late fights stack firearms, shields, brutes, rockets, jetpack enemies, and pressure from multiple angles.

Essential Tips

1. Play Turf Wars After The Heist

Turf Wars is DLC chapter two. Its story assumes the Maggia conflict is already moving and that Hammerhead has stepped into the opening left by the previous chapter. If you jump in cold, the first missions still work mechanically, but the Yuri and Hammerhead stakes land worse.

Finish The Heist first, then treat Turf Wars as the middle act. That mindset also helps with cleanup: you are not trying to relearn every district in Manhattan, you are dealing with a new batch of DLC missions, crimes, bases, challenges, suits, and trophies.

2. Respect the Sable Gear Spike

The official hook for Turf Wars is simple: gangs have scavenged Sable bases and weapons. In play, that means enemy groups can feel better armed, more armored, and less forgiving than ordinary street crime.

Enter fights with a loadout plan. Use crowd-control gadgets early, keep an eye out for rifles and rockets, and do not spend all your Focus on flashy finishers before you know what heavy enemies are still coming. If the screen fills with warning lines, dodging beats greed.

3. Use Gadgets Before the Room Gets Loud

Turf Wars rewards players who open fights by thinning the field. Web Bombs, Trip Mines, Impact Webs, and other control tools are strongest before every enemy has surrounded you.

Use gadgets to remove shield users, stop ranged enemies, or pin groups near cars and walls. If you wait until your health is already low, you are using your best tools as panic buttons instead of fight control.

4. Watch for Shielded Jetpack Enemies

The DLC adds awkward enemy mixes, including jetpack enemies with shields. Do not chase them like normal airborne targets. Close carefully, break their guard, and attack from a better angle instead of eating a charge or electrified trail.

When jetpack enemies share space with brutes or gunmen, prioritize survival first. Dodge the pass, clear the floor threat that is pinning you down, then return to the airborne target when you can see its approach.

5. Treat Spider-Bot Sections as Stealth Puzzles

The Bar With No Name shifts the pace by putting you in control of the Spider-Bot. These moments are not about combat speed. They are about pathing, vent timing, sensors, and eavesdropping.

Move slowly, scan the space, and let the bot’s tools do the work. If a vent or route object looks active, check whether the bot can short-circuit it. When conversations are the goal, use the sensor highlight before wandering around the bar.

6. Clear DLC Crimes as They Appear

Turf Wars adds its own crime activity around Hammerhead’s crew. If you ignore every pop-up until the end, cleanup can feel like a second chore after the story.

Handle nearby crimes between missions when your route already passes through the district. This keeps the DLC arc moving while preventing a dull final pass through leftover icons.

7. Build Focus for the Right Targets

Focus is useful for healing and finishers, but Turf Wars asks you to spend it deliberately. Heavy enemies, Gatling gun brutes, and boss openings are better uses than finishing the first regular thug you touch.

If you are taking constant chip damage, heal. If you have the fight under control, bank enough Focus for the enemy that would otherwise slow the whole room down.

8. Do Not Rush Suit Cleanup

Turf Wars adds three suits: classic Iron Spider Armor, Spider-Armor MK I, and Spider-Clan. One of the safest beginner approaches is to clear the story, then check what the suit and trophy cleanup still asks of you.

This keeps the first run clean. You can enjoy the chapter, learn the enemy mixes, and then return to challenges or bases with better rhythm.

9. Expect a Harder Middle Chapter

Some players find Turf Wars spikier than The Heist because Hammerhead Fronts and Screwball activities demand cleaner gadget use, stealth timing, and crowd control. That does not mean you are playing badly.

If a base wipes you late, adjust the plan instead of repeating the same opening. Change suit power, swap mods, spend gadgets earlier, and remove ranged enemies before chasing bonus objectives.

10. Keep the Scope Narrow

Do not drag every base-game habit into Turf Wars. Base-game backpacks, lab stations, Fisk hideouts, Taskmaster challenges, and old district chores are separate from this DLC chapter.

For this run, focus on Turf Wars missions, Hammerhead activity, Screwball challenges, DLC crimes, suits, and the chapter-ending boss. That narrower checklist makes the DLC feel like a compact episode instead of an overloaded map.

Hammerhead Fronts

Hammerhead Fronts are where Turf Wars earns its reputation. The danger is not one enemy type; it is the pileup. A late wave can mix brutes, shield enemies, rockets, gunmen, and regular attackers while you are trying to keep bonus goals alive.

Start each base by identifying ranged enemies. Guns and rockets break combos from off-screen, so remove them before committing to long ground strings. Web a gunner to a wall, yank a weapon away, or launch yourself across the room before the fight turns into warning-line clutter.

For brutes, keep your plan simple: dodge, control, punish, reset. Do not stand in front of a heavy target trying to force a full combo while smaller enemies are aiming at you. Use webbing, throwables, and Focus to shorten the brute phase.

If a front asks for bonus objectives, treat them as optional on the first clear. Surviving the base teaches you the waves. After that, replaying for cleaner objectives is much easier because you know when the heavy enemies arrive.

Screwball Challenges

Screwball activities in Turf Wars can be frustrating because they reward speed and style at the same time. The trick is to learn the route first, then optimize.

For combat challenges, prioritize the requested action only when the room is under control. If a special gadget or photo moment is available but rockets are already targeting you, dodge and stabilize first. A clean combo with fewer mistakes beats a greedy attempt that ends the run.

For stealth-style challenges, slow down before the first takedown. Identify sightlines, patrol spacing, and the safest opening target. Once the room starts reacting, improvise with webs and vertical movement rather than forcing the original plan after it has already failed.

For score attempts, separate learning from scoring. Run once to understand the arena, then run again with a score goal. That single change removes most of the panic.

Final Fight Plan

Bring the Hammer Down ends Turf Wars with a long combat setup and a Hammerhead boss fight. The first part asks you to stop thugs while a cement threat escalates. Use the environment, web groups together, and save Focus for enemies that can actually derail the room.

Against Hammerhead, your first job is dodging. His ranged attacks leave dangerous energy behind, and his lunging melee strings punish players who mash attacks after the first dodge. Wait for the full pattern, then counter with a clean opening.

Webbing him before attacking is safer than charging straight in. Web Shooters and Impact Webs can create moments where a short punish or Finisher makes sense. When more thugs join, clear enough of them to rebuild Focus and restore visibility. Do not tunnel on Hammerhead while the room fills with threats.

The fight is much easier when you accept its rhythm: dodge the boss, clear the adds, build Focus, punish safely, repeat.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

  1. Do not start Turf Wars before The Heist - the chapter works best as the middle part of the DLC arc.

  2. Do not treat Sable-equipped gangs like basic thugs - heavier weapons and fortified bases need earlier gadget use.

  3. Do not spend Focus on the first easy target - save it for healing, brutes, boss openings, or dangerous late-wave enemies.

  4. Do not chase shielded jetpack enemies blindly - break their angle and avoid their charge before attacking.

  5. Do not rush Spider-Bot sections - use vents, sensors, and short-circuits instead of wandering.

  6. Do not ignore ranged enemies in Hammerhead Fronts - guns and rockets ruin otherwise clean fights.

  7. Do not force bonus objectives on a first base clear - learn the waves first, then replay for cleaner goals.

  8. Do not panic during Screwball attempts - stabilize the room before chasing score moments.

  9. Do not mash into Hammerhead after one dodge - wait for his full attack pattern, then punish.

  10. Do not mix this checklist with full campaign cleanup - keep your attention on Turf Wars activities.
