Mortal Shell Guide: Mastering Eredrim, the Venerable

In this Mortal Shell guide, we will be exploring Eredrim, the Venerable Shell, the final Shell players acquire in the game. This article offers tips on choosing Skills, selecting the best Weapons for this Shell, and understanding its playstyle for a smooth first playthrough. If you have been wondering how to make the most of Eredrim, keep reading.

Mortal Shell Guide: Eredrim, the Venerable

Eredrim, the Venerable can be found just outside the Eternal Narthex, located beyond Fallgrim Outskirts. The first thing you must do is spend 500 Tar to reveal this Shell’s name, Stats, and Skills with Sester Genessa inside the broken keep in Fallgrim.
Eredrim boasts the highest Durability in the game, making him the most difficult to defeat. His Health can even be increased further with the Accretion of Endurance passive. If you are seeking a tank-like character with a high tolerance for mistakes, Eredrim is the right choice.

However, Eredrim has the lowest Stamina in the game, posing a challenge for some players. Although he has a couple of passives that boost damage, which helps in killing enemies faster, it doesn’t help much in Boss and Mini-Boss fights. Eredrim has 3 bars of Resolve, which is second-lowest, and he cannot passively increase the amount of Resolve he gains. Players who rely on Parries and Weapon Abilities should consider other Shells, like Harros or Solomon.

Which Skills to Choose for Eredrim

Once the Skill tree is unlocked, you will notice that Eredrim excels in boosting damage. His most powerful Skills revolve around this mechanic, making it easier to offset his lack of Stamina. If you prefer high Health and damage, Eredrim is the Shell for you, especially if you can rely on basic combat while managing Parries and Weapon Abilities.

Recommended Skills for Eredrim include: Accretion of Endurance, Accretion of Resolve, Accretion of Inheritance, and Recollection of Death. Most of the other abilities are not as useful, and after unlocking all Skills, ensure you speak with Sester Genessa as she sells items that are essential to Eredrim.

Eredrim’s Ideal Weapons

While Eredrim can use any weapon if Stamina is managed properly, some Weapons are more efficient for Stamina management. For example, the Martyr’s Blade consumes a lot of Stamina, which is a problem when facing multiple enemies. Weapons that are fast swinging, such as the Hammer and Chisel or the Hallowed Sword, are ideal to make the most of Eredrim’s abilities.

Hammer and Chisel have the fastest attack speed and are overall the best choice for Eredrim. The Hallowed Sword is another great option, as its speed and multiple hits mesh well with Eredrim’s abilities. Both these Weapon choices come in handy once you become more confident in your gameplay.

Final Thoughts

Eredrim is suitable for both new and experienced players. His damage abilities decrease in effectiveness as the game progresses and your Weapon upgrades increase. However, Eredrim is great for learning the mechanics of Boss fights or mini-bosses that hit hard, thanks to his high Health pool.

Mastering Eredrim will make other Shells seem easy in comparison. Choosing this Shell may result in a challenging start, but once you learn the mechanics of Mortal Shell, Eredrim becomes a powerful asset.
