Super Mario Bros. Wonder Wonder Seed and Flower Coin Cleanup Guide

Plan Super Mario Bros. Wonder cleanup for Wonder Seeds, 10-flower coins, badges, green checkmarks, Special World, and online standee use.

On this page

Super Mario Bros. Wonder is built for replaying courses until the map finally gives you that quiet green checkmark. The main cleanup route is simple to describe but easy to miss in practice: clear the course, find the Wonder Seed route, collect the three 10-flower coins, hit the top of the flagpole, then check whether the game still thinks something is hidden.

This guide focuses on the base Super Mario Bros. Wonder collectible route: 225 Wonder Seeds, 306 10-flower coins, and the badge habits that make cleanup easier. It also covers online standee use and Special World planning. It is not an all-location map, and Switch 2 Edition content such as Bellabel Park and Dual Badges belongs in separate route advice.

The important split is between base-game completion and Switch 2 Edition additions. The base route uses Wonder Seeds, 10-flower coins, gold flagpoles, badges, secret exits, and Special World. The Switch 2 Edition adds Bellabel Park, Dual Badges, Assist Mode, GameShare features, and wider multiplayer options, so treat those as a separate current-version checklist.

Cleanup Route

1. Clear First, Then Sweep

Do a normal clear of a course before hunting every corner. Most courses track at least one Wonder Seed, three 10-flower coins, and the top of the flagpole. If the course has a Wonder Flower route, finish that route and collect its Wonder Seed before judging the course complete.

After the clear, open the Courses overview from the map. A green checkmark means the game sees the course as complete. If you collected the obvious items and still do not see the checkmark, assume there is a secret path, alternate exit, hidden coin route, or missed flagpole top.

2. Search the Course Like It Has Two Layers

Wonder often hides collectibles behind interactions, not just offscreen platforms. Check suspicious corners, crouch over pipes that extend below the course, test pipes that look different, hit Wow Buds, pull handles, and watch for background paths.

Some coins are visible but require a setup: Elephant Fruit can break blocks, shells can hit blocks from an angle, moving pipes may need to be pushed, enemies may need to be lured, and Wonder Effects can move the entire route. If a 10-flower coin is clearly visible but unreachable, slow down and solve the course gimmick around it.

3. Use the Checkmark as Your Route Boss

The green checkmark is your best spoiler-light completion tool. Do not leave a course just because the visible list looks done. If the checkmark is missing, replay with a different goal:

Missing PieceWhat to Recheck
Wonder SeedWonder Flower route, alternate exit, Break Time reward, Badge Challenge clear, hidden shop seed, or secret path
10-flower coinWow Buds, handles, background pipes, ceiling paths, hidden blocks, and Wonder Effect timing
Flagpole topMovement badge, midair spin, higher route, or better final approach
World checkmarkSecret course entrance, overworld path, Special World route, or shop/checkpoint cleanup

4. Spend Flower Coins With a Plan

Flower coins feed Poplin Shop cleanup, and some shops sell badges or Wonder Seeds. Buy progression-relevant items before you start treating flower coins as spare currency. The Sensor Badge and movement badges are more useful to a cleanup route than cosmetic spending when you are still missing course objectives.

Repeated 10-flower coin pickups still pay a smaller flower-coin reward, so replaying courses can help rebuild funds. Just do not use repeat pickups as a substitute for finding the missing first-time collectibles.

Badge Planning

Badges change how you solve cleanup. Equip the one that answers the problem in front of you.

Badge TypeCleanup Use
Parachute CapSafer distance control, flagpole tops, and long falls
Floating High JumpExtra height for upper routes and awkward coin arcs
Boosting Spin JumpMidair correction and slightly higher routes
Grappling VineReaching walls, side paths, and wide gaps
Safety BounceForgiving pit, lava, and poison-swamp mistakes
SensorFinding significant items such as Wonder Flowers and 10-flower coins
Coin MagnetPulling in nearby coins and flower coins during cleanup
Expert BadgesPractice-only tools for late challenges and Special World routes

The base game has 24 badges, and collecting every badge is one of the medal goals. The Switch 2 Edition adds more badges, including Dual Badges, but those are not required for a base Switch cleanup route. Keep the two badge lists separate when tracking completion.

World Checklist

Use this as the structure for a first cleanup pass before a full location guide.

AreaCleanup Goal
Pipe-Rock PlateauLearn the Wonder Seed and 10-flower coin rhythm, then revisit secret paths and early badge routes
Fluff-Puff PeaksUse movement badges for vertical courses, cloud routes, and timing-heavy coin paths
Shining FallsExpect trial-style courses, launchers, zip tracks, and route timing
Sunbaked DesertCheck overworld paths carefully; Nintendo specifically calls out this world for secrets
Fungi MinesWatch for hidden routes, light/dark spaces, toxic hazards, and the Sensor Badge pickup route
Deep Magma BogSave harder lava, ruin, and expert badge cleanup for when your movement badges are comfortable
Petal IslesTreat this as a hub cleanup pass with normal courses, battleship routes, and late-game objectives
Special WorldDo after the main route is stable; every course is framed as a five-star skill test

In each world, do one pass for course clears, one pass for missing green checkmarks, and one pass for shop or overworld cleanup. That keeps the route readable instead of turning every replay into random wandering.

Special World

Special World is not just another batch of levels. It is a secret skill-test world, and each course has a five-star difficulty rating. Save it until you have the main movement badges, enough flower coins for useful shop items, and a clear idea of how Wonder Effects alter routes.

The same cleanup rules still apply: finish the course, collect the Wonder Seed, grab the three 10-flower coins where present, and revisit with a specific badge if one section keeps beating you. The final badge route, including The Final-Final Test Badge Marathon and the later Sound Off? pickup, belongs in this late-game pass.

Online and Standee Notes

Online play can help without taking over your course. With Nintendo Switch Online and a Nintendo Account, you can see other players as shadows, revive as a ghost by touching another player, and use activated standees as revive points. Standees can also hint at invisible blocks or safe spots when they appear in strange places.

Use standees generously in hard spots when playing online:

  1. Place them before tricky jumps, hidden-block routes, and Search Party clues.
  2. Activate useful gray standees before you need them.
  3. Watch player shadows for route ideas, but still confirm your own collectibles through the course checkmark.
  4. Use friend rooms for coordinated Search Party courses and races, then return to solo cleanup for exact collection.

Switch 2 Edition online, GameShare, GameChat, local wireless, and Bellabel Park player counts differ from the original Switch release.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

  1. Leaving without checking the green checkmark - The course list can reveal that a secret path, flagpole top, or hidden collectible is still missing.

  2. Ignoring Wow Buds and handles - Hidden coins and routes often depend on flowers, handles, and course interactions.

  3. Using one badge for every cleanup problem - Swap badges for height, distance, safety, item sensing, or late-game challenge practice.

  4. Spending flower coins before buying useful badges or seeds - Shop items can matter for cleanup, so do not drain your currency without checking what the shop sells.

  5. Assuming visible collectibles are the whole course - Background pipes, ceiling paths, and Wonder Effects can hide an extra route.

  6. Starting Special World before your movement is stable - Five-star courses are better after the main map and badge toolkit are comfortable.

  7. Forgetting online standees during Search Party courses - A floating or unusually placed standee can point toward a hidden block or route.

  8. Mixing Switch and Switch 2 Edition checklists - Dual Badges and Bellabel Park are Switch 2 Edition scope, not base Switch cleanup.
